Unarmed Black men

NORTHRIDGE, CALIF—  A study conducted by the F.B.I found that 34 percent of black men are more likely to be killed by police officers, although blacks men and women only make up 13 percent of the  population. Law enforcement agencies are not required to report police killings.


Increasing numbers of unarmed black men are quickly killed by police officers. If a police perceive a threat, deadly force is often used. Black Lives Matter protester’s March for solidarity to bring awareness in the excessive force used.

California State University student Marcus Strum, say’s “This is wrong, when Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were killed in the same weekend on opposite sides of the country for the same exactly reason.” “It felt like there was a secret agenda.” “Something else was happening that we aren’t aware of.”

Police are hire to protect and serve it citizens creating safe environments across the United States. African American men who are unarmed, when approached by police officers their encounters are mostly fatal.


“These senseless killings have got to stop,” says C-S-U-N African American Student Anthony Philips. Our environments are set up, to where it seems like all we care about is sex, money, and alcohol. ” It gives us a bad look.”

Black men are treated differently in the hands of law enforcement. The study also found that black men are more likely to be touched, pepper spayed and stopped by officers other races. Revealing that police are not racially bias.

Ben and Jerry’s ice cream has taken a stand for Black Lives Matter. The ice cream makers added new flavors such as Fudge the Police, and Empower Mint. The company says, “Systematic and Institutionalize racism are the defining civil rights and social justice issues our time. We’ve come to understand that to be silent about the violence and threats to the lives and well-being of Blackpeople is to be complicit in that violence and those threats.
