LOS ANGELES—Actress Javicia Leslie, 33 has been cast as the new lead in The CW’s Network Superhero series, Batwomen. Javicia will play the character Ryan Wilder, replacing former star Ruby Rose.
I love her. She has something new and classy to offer the world. Something that matters to Black girls and women like myself. I look forward to bingeing the series, experiencing Javicia’s talented dynamic character. Batwoman is scheduled to air its second series January 2021.

The 33-year-old star is the first Black women ever to play in a live-action TV-show lead role as a superhero. Her character is also depicts a bi-sexual women, which contributes huge support to the LGBQ communities of color.
“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.”

BlackGirlsMagic is indefinitely significant, just as any superheros, especially during times of increasingly racial violence in the wake of George Floyd, a black man slain on video by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota May 25, 2020.
“Black Lives Matter,”and representation of positive images are eerily powerful. For decades Black people are typically seen on and off screen in a negative light and or inferior to other races. Most people without “black friends” are usually afraid with ideological bias.
Javicia is definitely stirring up diverse change in Hollywood. I am excited. Her beautiful languorous features, fashion styles and hair standouts out.
